You usually don’t see Makeup Artists assemble to eat, drink, and share; tips, and techniques, unless in a private session and or formal institute. Most of the Artists have been taught that to do so would be career suicide.  Well I disagree! Most of the sets that I have worked on I see some of the same artists. Some of the books and magazines that I have gotten my research from reference some of the same artists that a few of us have been privileged to work with. What I would like to know is where and with whom are they passing there knowledge to.

Makeup Artist SherilynnMarilyn,(me) and a few others would like to change that the mindset of the makeup artist who is unlikely to share, by assembling once a month to exchange tricks of the trade, proper techniques, specific brands that you need to have in your kit, cosmetic bargain buys on luxury products, and topics on specific areas that cover furthering your career as a makeup artist. Gathering to share is in efforts to build a stronger artist, and a stronger individual, a stronger community of artists. This is a makeup session for makeup artists only, the New and the Experienced.

When you visit your favorite cosmetic convenient/department store you will find all kinds of bottles filled with cosmetic product, varieties of colors and multiple consistencies of any and all. I’m getting excited just writing about it LOL. Wow, before I get off track I said that to say this, although we love playing in the makeup, some of us just can’t get the application right. Such as classic or trendy looks for the current season, the new it color, how to use new textures for your new trendy look, etc, etc. A lot of times you find yourself saying, “I practice but I just can’t do it at home”.  Your main problem most of the time is what you are or not using to apply the products in your makeup bag!

Some products you can use your fingers, but most of the time to get that picture perfect effect you need the right tools. Ladies please do yourself a favor and invest in a set of brushes. When completing your look for a normal everyday occasion or a glamour evening you must not forget to accentuate your cheek bones. As you know there are various application and techniques: applying above or below the cheek bone, extreme contouring/defining the cheeks, applying just on the apples of the cheeks, smudging the product downward on the apples of the cheeks, etc.People have tried various directions of applying product, and various products to apply with.

When keeping your lip stain the trick is to layer.  Reason being through trail and error it just holds the color longer.  While the shine may fade mainly, your kissable lips will continue to sustain the shade you choose for the occasion.  It’s always fun to switch it up the color when showing off your puckers.  So many hues to choose from, I like to try them all.  It’s unusually fun to try a few new shade that you usually wouldn’t wear. I have put together a few tips on how to obtain a luminous, flawless, natural look every day:
• Choose a 2 cream concealer 1 lighter and the 2nd a shade close to your natural pigment
• Cover any imperfections that you may have with the natural pigment concealer around the eye area, the second lighter concealer on the apples of your cheeks- blending is most important
• Less is more, especially around the eye area
• Choose a translucent loose powder that contains mica i.e: like gold/silver flake
Apply the loose powder to your entire face
• Contour your cheekbones, nose, chin, and temples with a Bronzer. This adds a sun-kiss finish to the tone of the skin and accentuates the natural bone structure
