Goodbye Winter and Hello Spring

I am happy to see a new season emerging. Winter was a little indecisive lately – it was like having all four seasons in one (based in Atlanta). the weather has been a bit emotional lately.  From day to night, no layers to more layers,  raining one day and bright and shiny the next.  It’s been a marathon trying to keep up.

Although that was fun, my skin has been acting out-not always a good thing! I am doing a new skin regime to balance it out.  Always use what works for you but every now and again I like to give my skin a taste of something new.  I’m not afraid to switch it up, but not far from what works.   Here are the products that have refreshed my skin for the new year:

  1. St.Ives Naturally Clear- Apricot Scrub for blemish & Blackhead Control- www.stives.com
  2. Black Soap- you can find this at your local Health Food Stores
  3. Clean and Clear Dual Action Moisturizer- for dry skin- www.cleanandclear.com

What about you?  Please share with us your comments and the formulas that have brought your skin to life for the New Year. I will be looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Winter Moments

Photographer: Glen Moodie & Model: Nika

This winter season has been great! Both male and female fashions have been refreshing.

I especially love the makeup trends with the lips from electric and bright to dark and moody (I used satin black by www.makeupforever.com) The eyes were a true focal point from nude to colorful smokey eyes, paired with falsies. The hair has been hip, modern and a bit funky too. From sleek to messy ponytails and up dos, to blow outs and deconstructed curly fro’s with the part on the side.  I have so enjoy the individual styles that we all have expressed this winter season.  I wonder, what is Spring  going to bring us next?

Leave a message and let us know what’s your personal fashion forecast.

What’s Protecting The Skin Your In

Glen Moodie Photography

Now we all know that today we have issues with natural light and how it effects all skin types. More severe skin cancer cases are becoming the top of most beauty conversations. Most of us have adapted to the daily use of moisturizes and lotions for the face and body with SPF included to protect your skin from the harmful UV rays.  Although I personally enjoy sunbathing, the Sun is a Caners’ best friend and together they cause permanent  damage. Treat your skin with a tonic that will ensure protection while you enjoy natures vitamin D. Choose a few of these award winning products and lather up.

  • Enjoy multi-tasking lotion-www.thisworks.com
  • Oil of olay spf moisturizer-www.oilofolay.com
  • Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Lotio-www.sephora.com
  • Badger Face and Body 30SPF-www.drugstore.com
  • Korres Natural Products Sweet Orange Sunscreen Face & Body Milk SPF 15- www.totalbeauty.com

Father’s day Grooming Products

Father’s day is a day that is so important, but it just doesn’t get the same amount of play as Mother’s day. So this year I wanted to do my part by contributing helpful suggestions and tips on how to preserve your sexy, just for Daddy.

  • Use a regular facial cleansing regimen and facial  and body scrubs every other day or once a week. Some of the best man products to try would be:? Good Skin, (the whole line), Shiseido Men’s Anti-Shine Refreshing Gel, Lush Cosmetic Lad, Neutrogena, Molten Brown Re-charge black pepper Body Scrub
  • Use a good moisturizing shaving cream with a great razor as often as possibly needed ??like: Gillette ProGlide, Gillette Mach 3turbo with the matching shaving cream. A few other products are found on www.menscience.com
  • Hydrating your body is important too. After you jump out of the shower, lather the skin your in with a lotion, oil, and or gel much like the products found at www.keils.com
  • Ok now that we have the face and the skin taken care of we have to tackle the feet and hands. most men definitely skip this step and we women encourage you not too. Without having to be seen in the nailshop twice a month you can use a few of these to help smoothe out those rough edges: ???Baudelaire Pumice Stone for your feet, and Lab Series Active hand Cream, and keep a nail grooming kit with you at all times. here’s  video to show you how, click the link below http://www.monkeysee.com/play/16171-Men%u2019s-Grooming-Tips-%u2013-Hands-and-Feet

Get That Summer Glow

Now that Summer is finally here we can show off our main asset “Skin”. Many go through a number processes to obtain a kissed by the sun summer glow. Some enhancers are meant to illuminate or reflect light. Most assist in enriching/bronzing our skin pigments to even out skin tones. Some products just shouldn’t be used at all, which may cause orange tones, and or embarrassing discolored streaks and even sometimes permanent allergic reactions. Although I personally like to sun bathe, like many of us do, don’t spend too much time sunbathing in the sun’s brutal rays that are extremely harmful in the long run. Here are this years award winning products to get that healthy rich glow:

  1. Clinique True Bronze Pressed Powder Bronzer in Sunswept
  2.  Yves Saint Laurent Sun Poudre de Soleil Sun Powder SPF 10 in Golden Sun
  3. Nuetrogena wet Skin Sunblock Spray SPF 30
  4. Coppertone Oil Free Foaming Sunscreen Lotion SPF 75+
  5.  Aveeno Hydrosport Sunblock SPF 50
  6. Victoria’s Secret Beauty Gleaming Self-Tan Body Tint.
  7. Aqua Tan

Spring is in Full Effect

I can on and on about the great fashions in neutral colors that are popping up everywhere, but I would rather shed some light on the pastels that enlighten those beautiful fresh spring faces.

From multiple illuminating golden hues, baby blues, lilacs, lively greens, mauve, soft pastels, and shimmery silvers. Spring is boldly back in full effect!  Of course this means:

  • Sheer Eyes
  • Strong Eyebrows- this will give you a natural shape to the face
  • Sparse long lashes -not too full if theses are not the lashes you were born with
  • Bold matte Lips
  • Full glossy Lips are always in for this season

In conclusion, this is the spring season prescription paired with luminous foundation for various skin tones. Enjoy these fresh colors of the rainbow and find the most flattering combination for you

Winter Color

Winter has a tradition of going “Neutral”. Very cool colors, with the exception of the holiday primary colors of Red, Green, Blue, Yellow/Gold. This year I have noticed a lot of winter nontraditional spring and summer colors basing the faces on the magazines covers and fashion runways. So as a visual artist who loves color, I was inspired to play with a few happy hues. Senior Photographer Glen Moodie captured them and model “BabyDoll” let me paint her face. Thanks you to you both : )

There will be more updates on what colors to I like to use, and which products have a dual purpose on the next posting stay tuned. Leave a comment about what you would like to read about.
